I got these last year as part of their Homeroom collection for BTS and Grace was wearing size 10 shoes at the time. They fit fine in the foot, but they did not come up to right under the knee as most knee socks do. Instead they only came to about mid calf. That's why she never wore them.
Hard to tell with MJ socks, since they don't have a size chart per se, but based on what they've listed on another pair of knee socks, their sizes run like this:
Small - child wearing a size 4 in clothing
Medium - child wearing a size 6 in clothing
Large - child wearing a size 8 in clothing
So I would guess, the XS correspond to a child wearing size 2 clothing.
